describing a wedding which was photographed by Michael Loeb

Ingrid and Mike, both software consultants, seemed destined to be together right from the beginning. "I was so tired of the dating scene. One weekend I decided to write down what I wanted in a husband." Ingrid says. "And that Monday, I met Michael."

Nine months later, Michael was asking Ingrid's father for her hand in marriage. "I didn't know he had even talked to my Dad - I thought that was so old fashioned and very special," Ingrid says.

With their date set for six months later, they had to get moving on the

...planning. Ingrid found the perfect way to get Mike interested in all the details. "I knew he would participate more if we did the planning with a software package," she says. "We put the guest list, checklists and everything else we needed on it. We also created a web page - guests could read up on our wedding plans online, and they could RSVP there. People we didn't even know left messages to congratulate us!"
The planning may have been cutting- edge, but the wedding itself paid homage to the past. The couple's traditional ceremony at San Francisco Grace Cathedral included a touching performance of the old spiritual "You Give Me Joy," sung by two of Ingrid's college friends and her niece. And the reception combined elements of Ingrid's Creole heritage and Michael's African American background with everything from gumbo and zyedeco music to the African- American tradition of jumping the broom. "We tried to get as much of our culture into our wedding as we could," Ingrid says. "It was all really spirtual and special."
